Capps
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Mary Margaret Capps, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness.
Born August 4, 1936, in Moultrie, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Leon Mancil and Estelle Monc rief Mancil. Mrs. Capps was exception-ally gifted, graduating from high school at the age of 14 before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. She enjoyed a long and dedicated career with American National Insurance Company, where she retired after 27 years of service.
A faithful member of Crossview Church of God of Prophecy, Mrs. Capps also was active in the Dorcus Club, where she shared her love of baking, cooking, and creating arts and crafts. She treasured time spent traveling to the mountains and relaxing on fishing trips.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Littleton Capps, and her brothers, Jerry and Eugene Mancil.
She is survived by her son, Steve Capps (Tereasa) of Waycross; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Spradley (Mark) of Waycross and Chase Capps (Leslie) of Hilliard, Fla.; two step grandchildren, Joshua Chancey and Michelle Nettles; two great grandchildren, Dylan Capps of Jesup and Brantley Capps of Waycross; two nephews, Joey Mancil (Aimee) and Wayne Mancil (Laura); along with numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
A funeral service was held Saturday, November 8 at Crossview Church of God of Prophecy. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
