Murray
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Carlene McDonald Murray, 86, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Hospice House Satilla following an extended illness.
She was born in Atkinson County to the late Gordon McDonald and Bettie Bowen McDonald. Mrs. Murray was employed by the Ware County Board of Education as a dietician and retired in 2001 after 25 years of service as cafeteria manager at Ware County Middle School. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she participated in Bible study groups and was active in the Council of Catholic Women. In her spare time, she enjoyed square dancing and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four siblings, Charles McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Carolyn Smith, and Karl Owen McDonald.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Murray of Waycross; five children, Jack Murray (Miriam) of Kennesaw, Ga., Stanley Murray (Vanessa) of Littleton, Colo., Daniel Murray of Waycross, Steve Murray (Lori) of Cadwell, Ga., and Susan Stehlin (Jeff) of Clermont, Ga; 12 grandchildren, Matthew Holland (Angela), Kathryn Cody (Tyler), Austin Murray, Melissa Hansen (Paul), Michael Murray (Sarah), Mark Murray (Marci), Mac Murray, Joseph Murray, David Murray, Nicholas Murray, Jessica Stehlin, and Eric Stehlin; seven great grandchildren, Mason Holland, Logan Holland, Carly Hansen, Clark Hansen, Carter Hansen, Cal Hansen, and Wilder Murray; a sister, Mary Helen Warren of Willacoochee, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery.
A Rosary service will be held at 5 p.m, Friday, November 14 at Music Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, 31501.
