Special to the WJH Waycross and Ware County residents will soon have the opportunity to participate in a community- wide London Educational Excursion thanks to the planning and perseverance of long-time educator Millie Price.
Price has been teaching for 28 years and has seen a need for students to travel beyond Ware County to not only broaden their horizons, but also expand their knowledge about the roots of our founding fathers.
What began as a relatively small trip geared for middle schoolers quickly expanded.
“I realized parents would want to go with their students, and maybe even older siblings,” Price said. “I thought, ‘why not open it to the whole community? There’s no age limit on learning.’” The excursion will fly into London’s Heathrow airport in early summer, 2027, for a week of exploration, including the mysterious Stone Henge, the notorious Tower of London, and the largest occupied castle in the world, Windsor Castle.
Price decided to contact EF Tours to organize and plan the trip. The company has been handling educational excursions for more than 60 years and has an excellent reputation for quality trips.
“We wanted to offer a well-organized, stress-free trip that still offered some flexibility for personal choices,” Price said at a recent informational meeting hosted by the Okefenokee Heritage Center. “The great thing about EF Tours is they’re structured without being confining.”
