With reverence and teamwork, members of the Waycross Exchange Club gathered at the Okefenokee Fairgrounds to raise a new American flag — an act that signals more than the opening of the Fair. It’s a ceremonial moment renewing our shared commitment to liberty, service and community pride. Elevated in the crane’s bucket, club president Kirby Mc-Swain secured the stars and stripes to the pole while Scott Dowling anchored the rope. Jimmy White and LaFerrell Barnes unfolded the flag with precision and care, ensuring each fold honored the generations who have served and sacrificed. Danny Bartlett observed the process, reflecting the spirit of civic involvement that defines the Fair and the values it celebrates. Against the backdrop of banners and preparations for the Okefenokee Agricultural Fair, this patriotic display stands as a beacon of unity — reminding all who pass through the gates that tradition, opportunity and pride in our country remain at the heart of our community.
