Harold Edsel ‘Big Eddie’ Middleton
HORTENSE — Harold Edsel “Big Eddie” Middleton, 66 of Hortense, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025.
The Wayne County native had lived in Brantley County most of his life and was of the Church of God faith. The retired commercial and residential

painter loved to fish and cook in his free time, but his favorite pastime was spent being a Papa.
His parents, Harold Elzie and Aletha Middleton prec eded him in death, along with his two sisters, Jean Wingate and Amy Middleton, and two brothers, Charles and Andy Middleton.
Survivors are his three sons, Eddie (Chelsea Harris) Middleton, Donald (Cheyenne Turner) Middleton and Aaron Middleton, all of Hortense; several adopted-in-love children; grandchildren, Macee, Ella, Briar, Levi, Zoe, Paislee and Lilly Lee; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Monday, November 10, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel with James Rogers officiating.
Interment followed in the Middleton Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family and friends.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
