CARROLLTON — Brantley County’s Lady Herons and Herons each participated here in Saturday’s Class A Division I state track meet at Carrollton High School.
The Lady Herons placed 11th in the November 8 24-team finals finishing with 335 points. Bleckly County ran away with the crown finishing with 23 points with the team posting five of the top seven finishes for a fifth consecutive title.
The Lady Royals were followed in the Top 10 by Bremen (109), Fannin County (110), Jeff Davis (160), Jasper County (198), Model (200), Armuchee (234), Banks County (299), Vidalia (322) and Haralson County (323).
Comprising the next 10 spots were BCHS, Gordon Lee (366), Toombs County (369), Rabun County (404), Bacon County (411), Temple (425), Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy (441), Coosa (468), Fitzgerald (453) and Woodville-Tompkins (478).
The final four spots went to Heard County (489), Berrien (492), Gordon Central (609) and Jefferson County (611).
Brantley County’s Julia Miller finished 37th in the field of 155 runners posting a time of 24:19.70. The winning time was 18:38.92.
Miller was followed by Jaelynn Evans (47th; 24:47.24), Klara Barnes (79th; 26:22.83), Linzi Parker (87th; 26:53.04) and Delaney Lloyd (93rd; 27:06.16).
The Herons finished 21st in the 24-team finals. Bleckley County made it a sweep winning its third consecutive title with four runners in the top six spots and finishing with 26 points.
Following the Royals in the Top 10 were Fannin County (97), Armuchee (137), Jeff Davis (148), Vialia (183), Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy (213), Bremen (247), Toombs County (253), Model (312) and Washington County (315).
Finishing 11-20 were Jasper County (325), Oglethorpe County (344), Social Circle (391), Dodge County (396), Worth County (424), Woodville-Tompkins (426), Gordon Lee (433), ACE Charter (445), Gordon Central (461) and Berrien (491).
Brantley County (492) led the last four teams and was followed by Lamar County (495), Temple (524) and Dade County (552).
Grant Middleton paced the Herons finishing 55th in the field of 168 runners posting a time of 19:37.29. The winning time was 16:50.42.
He was followed by Brayden Middleton (76th; 20:08.71), Max Herrin (96th; 21:46.78), Eli Nielson (133rd; 21:46.78), Carter Lentz (147th; 22:44.29), Evinrude Green (153rd; 23:23.57) and Cayson Lentz (161st; 24:30.62).
