Armed robbery: Two Waycross men have been arrested and charged with armed robbery in an incident reported October 9 near the intersection of W. Parkway Drive and Monroe Street.

Isaiah Joseph Johnson, 21, of the 300 block of Walters Street and Ashley Lee Hendrix Jr. 20, 2400 block of Ambrose Street, each have been charged with felony armed robbery and a misdemeanor in an unrelated case. They remain in the Ware County Jail after having bond denied.

Hendrix, Jr. was arrested October 17 while Johnson was arrested October 28.

Patrol Sgt. Craig Colley spoke with the complaintant about 4:43 p.m. October 9 in the 1700 block of Thomas Street. Reported stolen was an Apple IPhone16 and an undisclosed amount of currency.

The complainant said they got into a vehicle that was occupied by multiple people. When the vehicle stopped again, the complainant said the suspect pulled out a black pistol with a silver slide and stuck it into the complainant’s body and demanded the cellphone and money or they would be shot.

Det. Antony Phillips responded to the scene, and with the help of the Waycross Police Department searched the area for the vehicle. Unable to find the vehicle, a BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued.

Ultimately, through further investigation, Det. Phillips was able to develop leads that led to probable cause and charges filed against Johnson and Hendrix, Jr.

Possession of methamphetamine, drug-related objects: A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Waycross man on drug charges John Scott Rowland, 53, of the 2200 block of Darling Avenue, was charged with felony possession of methamp hetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects and two traffic violations as a result of the stop about 3:43 p.m., October 23. Rowland remains in the Ware County Jail after having bond denied.

About 3:30 p.m., October 23, Det. Dakota York saw a tan, Chevrolet Silverado driving aggressively in and out of traffic without using turn signal, also crossing the center line near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Lee Avenue. Det. York activated lights and signaled for the vehicle to pull over.

The driver was advised of the reason for the stop and when Det. York asked for his license, he noticed the driver shaking and taking short breaths as he reached for his back pocket to retrieve his license. he driver said he was nervous. As Det. York wrote the traffic citations he called K-9 Dep. Zachary Lytle for assistance.

Lytle’s K-9 partner “Kitt” showed actions that led to probably cause for a search of the vehicle where a chrystal-like, rock substance was found as well as multiple pipes commonly used for ingesting narcotics. The substance field tested for meth resulting in the arrest.

Felony robbery: A Waycross man has been arrested and charged in connection to a robbery at a business in the 2400 block of Albany Avenue last month.

Korey Keniatta Grayer, 28, of the 1700 block of Albany Avenue has been charged with one county of felony robbery. Grayer was arrested October 30 and remains in the Ware County Jail after having bond denied.

The incident occurred about 2:43 a.m. October 5. Albany Avenue. Patrol Deputy Judah Hodges responded to the location in reference to a report of a robbery. The female clerk, who was not harmed in the incident, reported her purse containing a wallet and various other personal items, including ear buds, were stolen during the robbery.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, about 5-foot-5 with a wide build wearing black shorts, a black jacket and a black ski mask. She said he walked in an told her to open the safe.

The victim said she was unable to do that and he told her two more times to open the safe, saying “do you want to die? I’ll kill you,” she reported he said. He then demanded she open the register.

Told she couldn’t do that either, he snatched the purse and fled.

Det. Kyle Strickland and other members of the Crime Investigations Unit worked leads that led to evidence for probable cause to arrest Grayer.

Theft by deception: Two Pierce County individuals were arrested and charged with felony theft by deception in relation to a scam between October 17 and 20.

William Morgan Lowmon, 42, of the 4900 block of Confederate Road in Blackshear was charged with felony theft by deception. He remains in the Ware County Jail after bond was denied.

Scarlet Renaye Guest, 44, of a Patterson address, was charged with felony theft by deception and felony possession of methamphetamine. The latter charge stemmed from her arrest, authorities said.

Patrol Deputy Chris Courson took the report of the theft about 1:45 p.m. in reference to a scam that occurred between October 17 and 20 in the 3800 block of Brunswick Highway.

Reported stolen was an amount of several thousand dollars for a deck. From leads developed by Det. Strickland there was probably cause to arrest Lowmon and Guest for attempting to sell property with no authority to do so.
