The accused killer of a father and son reportedly had a problem with drug addiction and local law enforcement was familiar with him.
Avery Courson, 30, is accused of gunning down Virgil Lester Chaney, 64, and Christopher Levi Chaney, 37, at their home in the St. Johns Community Saturday morning, October 25.
Courson has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Courson is being held in the Pierce County Jail.

The pair of murder charges are a legal designation required for the court system.
A motive for the murders has not been made public.
Law enforcement sources tell The Times Courson reportedly had a drug addiction and had recently been involved in a domestic dispute that was working its way through the court system.
Courson had a bench warrant pending for shoplifting in Albany and also had a prior record for misdemeanor charges dating back to his teenage years.
Courson had his first appearance hearing before Magistrate Judge Shelly Herndon last week. His case has been bound over to the Pierce County Superior Court. Bond has been denied, which is routine in murder cases.
