Sweets and treats filled the park for a Hometown Halloween

Sweets and treats filled the park for a Hometown Halloween
Adalynn Jackson (above left) went from the cabbage patch to the pumpkin patch. Marlee Howard dressed up as something outside (and inside) the box, a dozen donuts. This year’s trick or treat event in Blackshear City Park featured a proud parade of costumed kids dressed up as everything from the cute to the downright creepy.

Blackshear observed Halloween on October 30, one day early so as to not conflict with the Friday night football game in Bearville. Weather was mild with a breath of coolness in the air. Continuing what looks to be a new tradition, trick or treaters came to Blackshear City Park to get their allotment of candy from a series of stations set up around the perimeter of the park. Some booths closed early, candy supplies depleted by the huge turnout.

There was also a costume contest, food trucks and some kids just enjoyed playing at the playground. Costumes ranged from creepy creatures and horror movie icons to superheroes, princesses, angels, cowboys and just about anything else one could imagine.
