Ware County Middle School spoiled the home opener for Pierce County Middle School with the Gators rolling to a 52-11 victory in 6th-7th grade basketball action.
No report was provided for the Lady Bears-Lady Gators matchup.
Ware Middle raced out to a 27-6 lead by the end of the opening stanza. The Gators pitched a second quarter shutout outscoring PCMS 9-0 in building a 36-6 halftime lead.
WCMS continued to pad its margin outpointing the Bears 8-3 in the third period to take a 44-9 lead. Ware Middle doubled up PCMS 4-2 during the “mercy rule” final quarter.
DeMarcus Murray led the Bears with three points — all from the charity stripe. Ace Goodman, Jaydin Moody, Wani Ivey (free throws) and Kayden Jenkins contributed two points apiece.
Pierce Middle made just three baskets on a cold shooting night. Ware Middle canned 18 two-point baskets and drained four treys for 48 of its 52 points.
