Bruce Truett, 99, died of congestive heart failure at his home in Bethesda, MD, in the company of family and friends Monday, October 6, 2025. 
He was born in Blackshear and was the son of the late JB Truett Sr. and Blanche Acosta Mitchell Truett.  He attended grammar and high school in Blackshear. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he met fellow graduate student Jeanne Titus, who would later become his wife. While at Georgia Tech, he became a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, a national professional chemistry fraternity. He later received a Master’s of Science and Management from American University. He served in the U.S. Army (Ordnance Corps) and Army Reserve.
He was a very active member of the National Capitol Section, a local chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a member of Toastmasters, International.
He was first employed in the research department of Antioch College and at the University of Dayton in Ohio, both under contract to various laboratories at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.  From there, he moved to Los Angeles to work at North American Aviation in the area of interior environmental control. He later moved to Bethesda to work at Booz-Allen Applied Research and the MITRE Corporation, from which he retired.
While he was in high school, he worked at his father’s hardware and building supply business.  He received cello lessons from a neighbor and family friend, Marion Williams, which began his avid love for all types of music (up to hip hop). He served several years as a volunteer usher at Wolf Trap Farm Park (a national park for the performing arts), where he had the opportunity to witness numerous memorable performances. He also enjoyed square dancing and participating in English and Scottish country dancing.
He was preceded in death by Jeanne Truett (wife), Barbara Truett Roberts (daughter), Charles Mitchell Truett (brother), Timothy Truett (nephew) and Harold (Ty) Titus (nephew). 
Survivors include  Thomas Roberts (son-in-law) and Caitlin E. Roberts (granddaughter), both of Bethesda, MD; Chris Czech (foster son) and wife (Michelle),  Park City Utah; Kurt Beyer (grandson), Montgomery Village, MD; Benjamin Truett (nephew), Clinton Forge, VA; Amelia Truett (niece), Arlington, VA; Lisa Titus (niece), Pacific Grove, CA; Barbara Rios (niece) and Victoria Fax Truett (niece), Bethesda.
Prior to his death, Bruce received services from Montgomery Hospice. 
He donated his body to Georgetown University Medical Center.
