Youth basketball registration open Registration for the Ware County Recreation Department’s Youth Basketball League is open now through November 7.

The program is available to boys and girls ages 5-17 with games played weekday evenings except Wednesday starting in January.

Cost is $40 per player. For more information, call the rec department office at (912) 287-4488.

Waycross, Ware trick-treat Oct. 31 Trick-or-treat in Waycross and Ware County will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 31.

Both the Ware County Sheriff’s Office and Waycross Police Department urge motorists to be extra cautious when driving in community neighborhoods and housing developments during that time.

Both law enforcement agencies will have treats during the evening. Trickor- treaters can visit the municipal courtroom in the police department, 512 Oak Street, and the Ware County Courthouse, 800 Church Street, for goodies.

The Downtown Waycross Merchants Association also is staging trunkor- treat among its businesses during the evening.

Cox Fitchett hold reunion Nov. 8 The Cox Fitchett reunion will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 8 at Obediahs Okefenoke, 5115 Swamp Road.

Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish. All paper products will be furnished.

Ware Middle has movie night Nov. 4 Ware County Middle School, 2301 Cherokee Street, is holding “Moonlight Movie Night” for the community at 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 4.

The movie “Hocus Pocus” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on a big screen at the football field as a fundraiser. Those attending should bring chairs for blankets to sit on.

Admission is $3 per person and $10 for a family of four with $1 for each additional member. There will be concessions and food truck vendors available.

Ware Rec. Dept. sets senior dance The Ware County Recreation Department will stage a senior dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, November 8 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2110 Cecil Brown Drive.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $7 per person. There will be door prizes, light refreshments, and DJ Fred Hand playing all the oldies.

Trunk or Treat at Walker Jones Walker Jones Automotive, 2700 Memorial Drive, will hold Trunk or Treat from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, October 30 at its Chevrolet building.

The dealers sweetest rides will be loaded with trunks full of candy for the afternoon. A costume contest will be included in the event so come in your best Halloween attire.

Prizes will be given to best kids costume, best kids group costume, most creative, and best pet costume.

Regional library board meets Nov. 3 The Regional Library Board of the Okefenokee Regional Library System will meet at 4 p.m. Monday, November 3 at the Alma-Bacon County Public Library. 201 N. Pierce Street.

‘Okefenokee Opry’ scheduled Oct. 30 The “Okefenokee Opry” featuring “Little Satilla” band will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday October 30 at Okefenokee Swamp Park, 5700 Swamp Park Road.

This special event is event is sponsored by the Okefenokee Heritage Center, the Okefenokee Swamp Park, and the Waycross Convention & Visitors Bureau. It is being held in conjunction with “Swamptacular,” which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $15, which includes the concert.
