The city’s fall cleanup campaign has moved this week to the Waycross Dog Park, 1507 Grove Street.
The semi-annual effort began October 5 and continues through November 9. The receptacle will accept household refuse at this week’s location from 8 a.m. until sundown through Sunday, October 26.
The program ends at Monroe Park, 1211 Hill Street, November 39.
Citizens don’t need to wait until the dumpster is in the area of their residence to place refuse in the container. The receptacle, regardless of location, will be open to any resident or property owner during the campaign.
There is no limit on the number of times citizens can deposit items. Among the prohibited items in the collection are tires, containers of paint, solvents, chemicals or pesticides, building materials, tree removal debris, bricks or blocks.
The receptacle will be available until its filled, and then returned to the designated site after it’s contents are dumped. The city stressed items should not be left the ground if the container is full or taken for dumping.
Citizens are asked to return with their refuse when the dumpster is empty.
The city’s regular weekly collection schedule for yard waste and household items continues during the campaign. Household refuse picked up at a residence requires a call to the public works department (912) 287-2955 to schedule a time for the pickup.
