The Waycross Police Department held its annual Faith and Blue community cleanup and day of praise earlier this month followed by a picnic lunch at Pernell Roberts Memorial Park. Volunteers from the community and WPD personnel formed four teams that spread out over the city to pick up refuse. One of the teams included (l-r): WPD Lt. Chad Zauner, Ware County High School Beta Club member Christian Chilson, WCHS Law Enforcement/Forensic Science Pathway teacher Kelly Thrift, WPD Administrative Officer Jessica Macintosh, WPD Lt. Joshua Prall, Golden Isles EMS EMT Samuel Pond, Lamar Thrift of the Ware County Forestry Commission, and Jackson Thrift, WCHS 11th grader. The four teams collected enough trash in three hours to fill an entire dumpster in the parking lot behind the C.C. McCray City Auditorium. The local observance is among those held nationwide in October by law enforcement agencies.
