Make your voice count— go vote!

Please go vote.

It’s easy. It’s essential. And, it’s your fundamental right as a citizen of this great country of ours.

It is what is considered an “off year” election. The president and governor are not on the ballot this year.

But, the decisions to be made and the choices for state and local offices are, in many ways, “closer” to you.

We will have two state seats for public service commission on the ballot. These officers help set rates and guidelines for the state’s public utilities.

Closer to home, we will vote on whether to extend the one cent tax for education improvements locally, including the bond payment for our beautiful Pierce County High School. Blackshear voters will choose a Mayor. Patterson residents will choose two council members. These candidates are your friends and your neighbors and they become your representatives in local government. They are the ones who have the most direct affect on your local tax dollars and local decisions about road improvements, public safety decisions and recreation facilities.

It’s easy to feel frustrated or disillusioned with the political process, especially with the dysfunction in Washington and the seeminly distant government in Altanta, but exercising your right to vote remains one of the most powerful and meaningful actions you can take as a citizen. Voting is a fundamental pillar of our democracy that influences the critical decisions affecting our nation, our state and yes, at its very basic level, the government here in your community. By casting a ballot, you give your input on how you want things done.

Make your voice count. Your community is counting on you.
