Virgil Lester Chaney

Virgil Lester Chaney, 64, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning,

October 25, 2025, at his residence.

Born July 24, 1961, in Blackshear, he was a son of Jenetha Strickland Chaney and the late Truman Lester Chaney. He lived all his life in Pierce County and was a 1979 graduate of Blackshear High School. He had worked as a boilermaker with Local 26 and was retired as a longtime owner/operator of Chaney’s Sewing Center. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

His son, Christopher Levi Chaney also passed away Saturday, October 25.

Survivors include his wife, Tereasa Chaney, Blackshear; daughter, Kaitlyn Storm Chaney, Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Zara Murray, Blackshear; mother, Jenetha Strickland Chaney of Blackshear; brother, Bryan Chaney, Blackshear; sister, Karen Bowen Patterson, Blackshear and several other relatives.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. 

Interment will follow in Enon Cemetery.
