WAYCROSS — Brantley County High School’s Heron Pride Marching Band was named Grand Champion following Saturday’s 23rd annual Sound of Gold Marching Championship competition hosted by Ware County inside Memorial Stadium. The Heron Pride Marching Band, under the leadership of Band Director Noah Jackson, collected 16 trophies during the October 25 event which included the over six-foot tall Grand Champion trophy. Receiving Grand Champion was the first for the band and the first for a Class A program. Over the past four years, then Class 7A schools Lowndes and Camden County went back-to-back, followed by Class 4A Perry and Class 5A Houston County last year. The Ware County Golden Gator Band sent congratulations saying the Heron Pride Marching Band’s performance “was phenomenal and (Grand Champion) was well deserved. SPECIAL PHOTOS
