We’re always in God’s thoughts

The Bible says:

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand.”

— Psalm 139: 17, 18

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord.”

— Jeremiah 29: 11

One of the great philosophers Rene´ Descartes stated, “I think therefore I am.” By that he meant that thinking was proof that he existed. Aside from all the other evidence — general and special revelation — we have of God’s existence the fact that He thinks is another.

Being able to think is one of the qualities of personhood. Man, because he is made in the image of God, has the power to reason, to reflect, to investigate, to come to conclusions, and to guide his life by his thoughts and conclusions.

Man can turn his thoughts toward God and think about Him. And God thinks about or turns His thoughts toward man. In the week of creation (Genesis 1) God was thinking of the man that He would form with His hands on the sixth day.

For the earth was created specifically to be inhabited by man. God thought in His imagination of everything that man would need and He was going to create for him and He then spoke His mind and they were created.

God knew man would sin before he did and thought out a plan for his salvation which involved His Son dying on the cross. God alone thought of such a plan for man’s salvation.

God created the nation of Israel from reading the Bible. God has thoughts and plans for the church the Bride of Christ and is working to bring His thoughts and plans to fruition.

Idols represent false gods and are insensible and insentient (lacking perception, consciousness, and animation). They have eyes but can’t see, ears but can’t hear, mouths but can’t speak, noses but can’t smell, hands but can’t handle, feet but can’t walk.

(Psalm 115: 4-7)

And they certainly can’t think so cannot exist. They’re a creation of man’s imagination.

Not only does God think about His overall plan for the universe He thinks about each of us as individuals, especially if we’re saved and one of His children. What a precious thought it is to think that God thinks so much of me.

He has more thoughts about me than I have of Him. His thoughts of me are more than the sands, but sadly I find my thoughts of Him are so few. Others may not think of me or think that much of me but God thinks a lot of me. The wicked never think about God. (Psalm. 10: 4) But those that fear the Lord “think upon his name.” (Malachi 3: 16); God occupies their thoughts — A Thine head ... the king is held in its galleries.@ (Song of Solomon 7: 5) The God of the Bible is the only true and living God and among all the mighty things He is doing it is a comforting thought to know He thinks about me and you.
