Brantley x-country competes in meet hosted by Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Brantley County’s cross-country Lady Herons and Herons participated here Thursday in the ninth annual Run the Plank event hosted by Brunswick High on the College of Coastal Georgia campus.

The Lady Herons placed fifth in the seven-team meet collecting 146 points. Savannah Arts Academy continued its dominance of local meets finishing with 32 points and four runners placing eighth or better.

Trailing the Lady Panthers were Glynn Academy (74), host Brunswick (108), Camden County (113), BCHS, Vidalia (162) and Woodville-Tompkins (220).

Setting the pace for the Lady Herons was Laila Buckins, who finished 13th in the field of 83 runners with a time of 22:11. The winning time was 18:36.

Following Buckins was aelynn Evans (26th; 23:49.70), Klara Barnes (28th; 23:53.30), Delaney Lloyd (38th; 25:04.80), Linzi Parker (41st; 25:10.20), Chloe Johns (82nd; 33:25.70) and Kaycee Johnson (83rd; 43:53.10).

The Herons finished seventh in the nine-team boys’ meet scoring 195 points. Savannah Arts Academy made it a sweep finishing with 47 points and the top five finishers. The Panthers also claimed the sixth and seventh spots.

Hayze Evans led Brantley County’s contingent of 10 runners placing seventh in the field of 107 runners with a time of 17:33.70. The winning time was 16:41.50.

Trailing Evans was Chase Howell (26th; 18:47.50), Brooks Anderson (35th; 19:04.40), Max Herrin (41st;

19:32.40), Elie Nielson (67th; 21:42.50), Evinrude Green (77th; 22:26.50), Carter Lentz (79th; 22:30.10), Jett Florey (93rd; 24:16.20), Steven Roberson (102nd;

25:49.50) and Jesus Rios (107th; 30:28.70).
