Pierce County’s volleyball Lady Bears fell victim to seventh-seed Franklin County in the second round of the Class AA state tournament Saturday.
The 10th-seed Lady Bears (20-22), who reached 20 victories for the fourth consecutive season, opened postseason play Tuesday, October 14 powering past overmatched 23rd-seed Butler (10-10) 25-8, 25-8, 25-4.
Franklin County (25-14), the seventh seed and Region 8 runner-up, ended PCHS’s season Saturday, October 18 in Carnesville posting a 25-10, 25-21, 25-17 Round 2 sweep. The victory was the fifth in six matches for Franklin County.
Region 3 champion Savannah Arts Academy, a fifthseed, reached the “Elite 8” beating both 28th-seed Hardaway and 21st-seed Jackson 3-0. The Lady Panthers hosted 13th-seed Hart County Tuesday, October 21 with a “Final Four” berth on the line.
Appling County, seeded 14th, reached the second round knocked of 19th-seed Jordan 3-0 before falling to third-seed Columbus 3-0.
Cook, a 24th seed, fell 3-0 to ninth-seed Davison Fine Arts. Crisp County, seeded 22nd, lost 3-0 to 11th-seed Shaw.
