LUDOWICI — Pierce County’s cross-country Lady Bears and Bears ran here Thursday in the Blue Tide Hills meet hosted by Long County.
The Lady Bears placed fifth in the six-team field, which included runners from four other schools, finishing with 116 total points.
West Laurens captured the meet, placing all five runners inside the Top 10 positions for a score of 27. Islands of Savannah (45), host Long County (75), Bacon County (110), PCHS and Tattnall (130) followed.
Calvary Day, Windsor Forest Jenkins of Savannah and Toombs County did not field complete five-person teams.
Selah Griffis led the Lady Bears, placing 16th in the field of 54 runners with a time of 25:57.09. The winning time was 21:59.91.
Following Griffis were Nevaeh Grant (18th; 26:28.90), Ana Llamas-Diaz (26th; 27:31.04), Rilie DePratter (38th; 29:05.69), Baylee Rose Tippins (44th; 31:23.09), Addison Folette (46th; 31:34.66) and Myla Mar-tinez (50th; 33:01.22).
The Bears finished seventh in the 11-team boys’ meet with 175 points. West Laurens made it a clean sweep, totaling 48 points with three runners finishing inside the Top 10.
Finishing between West Laurens and PCHS were Toombs County (82), Long County (108), Tattnall County (109), Calvary Day (114) and Islands of Savannah (134).
Trailing the Bears were Jenkins of Savannah (177), Liberty County (180), Bacon County (307) and Windsor Forest (343).
PCHS was led by Brandon Yepes, who finished 10th in the field of 92 runners, posting a time of 19:34.11. The winning time was 17:00.84.
Also competing for the Bears were Jared Watson (28th; 20:53.63), Breck Benton (46th; 21:5.13), Jeb Bradley (49th; 22:00.41), Samuel Carrillo (52nd; 22:25.02), James Alonso (56th; 22:42.42), Coleman Lee (57th; 22:52.35) and Jaxson Williams (81st; 25:25.13).
