WAYCROSS — Mary Frances Eunice Cheshire, 76, of Waycross, died early Sunday morning, October 5, 2025, at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Adel, Ga. after an extended illness.
She was born in Waycross to the late Horace E. Eunice, Sr., and Nina Richardson Eunice. A lifelong resident of Waycross, Ms. Cheshire graduated from Ware County High School and then obtained her nursing degree from Waycross College. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Dr. Bates, and was a member of the Baptist faith, often attending Deenwood Baptist Church and several others in the Waycross community.
She enjoyed her years traveling with Young At Heart Friends before her health declined and she was unable to do so anymore. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Nina H. Eunice and one brother, Joseph A. Eunice.
Ms. Cheshire is survived by one daughter, Shannon Lisa Gibbs and her husband, Ron, of Adel; one son, Paul Kevin Cheshire of Milledgeville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Amanda and Lisa; numerous great grandchildren; three brothers, Horace Eunice and his wife, Joyce, of Waycross, James Eunice and his wife, Joann, of Waycross, and William Eunice and his wife, Dianne, of Waycross; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, October 8 in Oakland Cemetery.
