BAXLEY — Mr. Ralph Darrell Murray, age 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 7, 2025, at his home in Baxley.
Born on March 12, 1957, in Waycross, Murray was the son of the late William J. Murray and Wilma Sweat Murray. A skilled carpenter by trade, he was formerly employed at the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant.
Murray was a man who found great joy in life’s simple pleasures — grilling, gardening, enjoying the outdoors, and most of all, spending cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thurza Plowden Murray; his daughter, Shannon Hollinger; great granddaughter, Renlee Grace Davis; and three brothers: Freddy Murray, Billy Murray, and Larry Murray.
He is survived by his daughters, Misty Murray (Alex Galvan) of Hoboken, Christy Murray (Johnny) of Glennville, and Chryssy Payne (Rita) of Wilsonville; his son-inlaw, Bill Hollinger of West Green; 29 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; siblings, Annette Ursery and Jacqueline Snellgrove, both of Waycross, Annice Courson of Macclenny, Fla., and his twin brother, Dale Murray of Millwood; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.
A funeral service was held Saturday, October 11 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Indian Mound Baptist Church Cemetery in Millwood.
