Ware County High School student Jarrett Scotton has been selected to serve on Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2025– 2026 Student Advisory Council.
Scotton, a junior, is one of 79 students statewide chosen from a pool of more than 1,200 applicants. The Student Advisory Council offers high school students the opportunity to share their perspectives directly with the State Superintendent and leaders of the Georgia Department of Education.
Council members meet several times during the year to discuss state education policy, classroom experiences, and opportunities for improvement.
They also complete service projects that benefit local schools and communities.
Supt. Woods said the council ensures student voices are part of Georgia’s decision-making process. “These outstanding young leaders bring experiences and perspectives from every corner of our state,” he said. “Their viewpoints and ideas will guide our work to ensure every student’s success.”
The first council meeting will be held next month at the Georgia Department of Education in Atlanta.
