Memorial Satilla Health in partnership with Ware County Sheriff’s Office and the YMCA of Waycross will stage a local version of “Crush the Crisis,” a national prescription drug takeback day, later this month.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 25 at the YMCA, 1634 Plant Avenue. The local program is part of a nationwide effort to take 100,000 pounds of expired or unwanted medication off the streets and out of the wrong hands for safe disposal.
Accepted items include: tablets or capsules in any packaging; patches; medicated ointments lotions or drops; liquid medications (in leak-proof containers); vape cartridges, (without batteries); and pet medications.
Items such as needles, syringes, lancets and illegal drugs will not be accepted.
