Memorial Satilla Health recently partnered with South Georgia State College and the South Georgia Healthcare Group to host the first Student Healthcare Summit in Waycross for high school students considering a career in health care.
“Events like this Summit are the cornerstone of our workforce development efforts, offering tangible career exposure to students considering medicine,” said Damon Barrett, CEO. “Experiences like this are crucial for inspiring students to pursue demanding, but rewarding careers.”
The Georgia Association of Nursing Students (GANS) at SGSC facilitated a series of hands-on simulation exercises, creatively themed around Halloween, which allowed 10th graders from Ware County High School to apply critical thinking and clinical skills in a lowstakes, engaging environment.
Nursing students also held a question-and-answer session with the high schoolers, giving them firsthand insight into their day-to-day experiences.
