No Kings rally planned Oct. 18

Satilla Voices for Democracy will hold a “No Kings” rally at 9 a/m., Saturday, October 18 at 1921 Memorial Drive.

The event is one of more than 2,400 planned across the nation that day.

Youth basketball registration open Registration for the Ware County Recreation Department’s Youth Basketball League is open now through November 7.

The program is available to boys and girls ages 5-17 with games played weekday evenings except Wednesday starting in January.

Feed My Sheep offers free meals Peter Feed My Sheep food ministry is staging its Thanksgiving in October meal program with two dates remaining.

The next meal will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25 at Okefenokee Fairgounds. The final dinner will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 at OATH food bank facility, 405 Brunel Street.

The previous meals were October 10 and 14. The program plans to have its Christmas meals during November.

The ministry is accepting donations to continue its community outreach. Collection boxes will be at each of the meal sites.

D-1 House hopeful guest of Ware GOP The Ware County Republican Party will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, October 20 at Hog n’ Bones, 1900 Memorial Drive, Waycross.

Guest speaker will be Lt. Col. (Ret.) Brian Montgomery, a candidate for U. S. Congress for the First District. The Georgia native and Savannah resident is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, a combat veteran, and a Ranger-qualified Infantry Officer.

London excursion meeting Oct. 21 The Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Avenue, is hosting an informational meeting at ? p.m., Tuesday, October 21, for an educational trip to London in 2027.

The excursion, planned June 4-10, 2027, will be led by veteran educator Millie Price, and organized by professional tour company EF Tours.

The meeting will discuss payment plans, itinerary, and trip reservation requirements. Anyone from 4th grade and up is eligible.

Rec. Dept. stages fall festival Oct. 25

The Ware County Recreation Department holds its annual fall festival from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 25 at Memorial Park., 1300 S. Georgia Pkwy.

There is no charge for admission. There will be hayrides, face painting, bounce house, games, a cake walk, and much more.

Legion Post 517 meets tonight

American Legion John S. Sutton Post 517 holds its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., today (Wednesday, October 15) in the post ballroom, 710 Dorothy Street.

Library trustees to meet Oct. 23 The Waycross-Ware County Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 23 in Room 212 of the Ware County Administration Building, 305 Oak Street.

Griffin reunion slated Oct. 26

Descendants of Manning and Charlotte Griffin will hold their annual family reunion Sunday, October 26 at Hoboken Elementary School, 224 Church Street.

Doors will open at noon with lunch in the cafeteria at 12:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a covered dish and drink.
