WAYCROSS — Mrs. Janette Ruth Crawford Barton, 78 of Waycross, died Monday morning, October 6 at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after a brief illness.
Mrs. Barton was born in Munich, Germany to the late Cecil Worth Collins and Ruth Kern Collins. A life-long resident of Waycross, she worked for Atlantic Coast Federal Credit Union and Primesouth Bank.
Mrs. Barton was an active member of Zion Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Millwood where she taught Sunday School for 28 years.
More than anything, Mrs. Barton loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary “Donnie” Donald Crawford.
Mrs. Barton is survived by her husband, Andrew Barton of Waycross; her daughter, Tammy Carter (Kenny) of Waycross; her son, Chad Crawford (Tiffanee) of Calhoun; five grandchildren, Clay Carter (Tierra), Blake Carter, Collin Carter, Brooks Crawford and Cason Crawford; two great grandsons, Mason Carter and Jackson Carter; two sisters, Cecilia Thomas (Chris) of Hoboken and Belle Carter (Al) of Blackshear; two brothers, Michael Collins (Teresa) of Hoboken and Tony Collins (Brandi) of Blackshear; three step-daughters, Kristie Lee (Cary) of Waycross, Helene Barton of Valdosta and Rhea Minor (Brad) of Hoschton, Ga.; two brothers- in-law, Michael Crawford (Jim) of Laurel, Maryland and David Crawford of Waycross; her best friend of 48 years, Jeanie Monk of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service was held Thursday, October 9 at Zion Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
