Ninth-ranked Brantley County closed its regular season Tuesday posting a 10th consecutive win in the home finale against Class 5A sixth-ranked Glynn Academy winning 3-2.
The Lady Herons (18-8) had their matchup with then ninth-ranked Coffee Monday night, October 6, in Douglas cancelled in the third inning by rain with the Lady Trojans clinging to a 1-0 lead.
BCHS rallied to hand the Lady Red Terrors (227) a second loss in three games and a split in the season series. Glynn Academy posted a 7-4 home victory September 8.
Brantley County enters the 32-team Class A DI tournament as the 13th seed. The Lady Herons are one of six Region 1 teams with five earning at large berths behind champion Bacon County, the No. 4 seed in the field.
BCHS is hosting 21stseed Armuchee (18-10) in the opening round which begins today (Wednesday, October 15 doubleheader). An “if” game is scheduled for Thursday, October 16.
The series winner advances to face survivor of 28th-seed Worth County (11-19) and fifth-seed Social Circle (24-5), ranked fourth in the last Top 10 poll. The second round is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 and Thursday, October 23 at the highest remaining seeds.
In other first round series involving Region 1, the third-ranked Lady Red Raiders (18-4) host 29thseed Temple (8-16). Thomasville (19-11), seeded 17th, travels to face 16th-seed Model (18-5). Jeff Davis (20-10), seeded 15th, host 18th-seed Bleckley County (18-5). Berrien (10-20), the No. 26 seed, travels to seventh- seed ACE Charter (21-9).

CANEY BAY — Jayden Lewis drilled a one-out, bases loaded two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning driving home the tying and game-winning run lifting Brantley County past the visiting Lady Red Terrors.
Trailing 2-1 entering the home half of the sixth, Riley Story (1-for-2) lined a first-pitch leadoff single. Chelsea Turner (3-for-3) followed with a bloop single to left off an 0-2 offering and was removed for pinch-runner Kynslea Garrison. Sydnee Davis was hit by the first pitch from the Glynn Academy reliever loading the bases.
Two batters later, Lewis laced a 3-2 pitch up the middle scoring both Story and Garrison for a 3-2 lead.
The Lady Red Terrors got the tying run to third in the top of the seventh against Mclain (7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 K, 2 BB). An eight-pitch walk got the inning started. The runner advanced to second on a passed ball and stole third ahead of the second out. A first-pitch grounder ended the game.
Glynn Academy struck for a run in its first at bat getting a leadoff homer on the second pitch of the game.
The Lady Herons tied the game in the bottom of the second scoring after two outs and nobody on base. Sydney Page (1-for-3) kept the inning alive with a single. She stole second in the midst of a four-pitch walk to Mclain. Page and Garrison, courtesy running for Mclain, moved up a base on a passed ball. A second straight passed ball scored Page tying the game at 1--apiece.
The visitors responded with a run in the top of third doing so after two outs and nobody on base. A two-out error extended the inning. Following a theft of second, the Lady Red Terrors scored one pitch later on a single to center.
