
Michael Allen “Mike” Johnson, 71, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday night, October 5, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Blackshear June 20, 1954, he had lived all of his life in Pierce County. A 1972 graduate of Blackshear High School, he attended college for a short time before settling in as an independent insurance agent, focusing mainly on life, health and annuities, which garnered him many awards over the years. A self-taught, multi-talented musician, music played a large part in his life. He enjoyed performing for weddings, birthdays and other special events as part of the Michael J & Roger D Band, The Second Chance Band from Jesup and many others, focusing on beach music, oldie-goldies, and rock music. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Blackshear but had recently been attending Wards Memorial.
In addition to his parents, Robert Allen Johnson and Norma Jean Bryant Johnson Dixon, he was preceded in death by his son, Rob Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Miller Johnson of Blackshear; a daughter, Haley Ragsdale of Blackshear; a step-son, Chris (Mysti) Davis, Waycross; seven grandchildren, Harlow Ragsdale, Haven Ragsdale, Luke Davis, Kehleh (CJ) Jerrell, Lauren Davis, Izzie Davis and Addie Davis; four great-grandchildren, Josie Davis, Everleigh Davis, Piper Wishall and Ruby Jerrell and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Crosby officiating.
Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
