Waycross teen connected to armed robbery turns himself in

One of the two men sought by the Waycross Police Department in connection to an armed robbery September 26 surrendered last week, Capt. Greg Young, WPD Crime Scene Investigations Commander, said Monday.

Lamarius Maki Howard, 17, of the 300 block of Avalon Place, turned himself in Monday, September 29. Howard is in the Ware County Jail charged with a party to the crime of armed robbery and a party to the crime of aggravated assault, Ware County Sheriff’s Office Major Neil Skerratt said.

Howard was among six people who were suspects in the robbery. Charged earlier was Jarrius Perry, 18.

Three juveniles were also involved and either apprehended shortly after the incident or surrendered to authorities later Friday, September 26.

About 3:30 p.m. that day, a man driving a Chevrolet HHR picked up six individuals seeking a ride in the area of Elizabeth Park and the Peachwood Apartments. One of the riders pulled a handgun on the driver and hit him in the head and took his money, Young said.

If anyone has any information about the incident, they may contact WPD detectives at (912) 287-2921 or call the automated tip line at (912) 287-2924 if they wish to remain anonymous.
