
Raymond Hickox, 67, of Patterson, passed away Tuesday night, Sept ember 30, 2025, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born March 6, 1958, in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Melvin James and Ina Johnson Hickox. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and was retired as a truck driver for 47 years, having driven Hickox
for Pope Trucking, Inc, Greenbush Logistics, and Thom’s Transport. He was a member of Refuge Primitive Baptist Church in Pearson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Hickox Sharpe; three sisters, Mary Jane Heath, Julia Lawton and Annie Scott and three brothers, William Hickox, Russell Hickox and Steven Mitchell “Stevie” Hickox.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Hickox, Patterson; son, Nicholas Hickox (fiancé Kimberly Teston), Sterling; daughter, Veronica Hickox, Savannah; two step-daughters, April Shook (husband Doug) and Abryana Tyre, both of Douglas; six grandchildren, Bill Sharpe Jr., Taylor Sharpe, Mikell Whitt Jr., James Hickox, Timothy Hickox and Jason Hickox; a great-grandson, River Wade Sharpe; two sisters, Glenda Hickox, Alma and Kathleen (Marvin) Gill, Offerman; five brothers, J. D. Hickox, Patterson, Wendell Hickox of Florida, Clayton (Tracy) Hickox, Glen St. Mary, FL, Layton (Petra) Hickox, St. Marys, Michael (Lana) Hickox, Ellabell and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Elder Clarke Lee, Elder Shane O’Neal and Bro. Johnny Batten officiating.
Interment followed in New Home Cemetery.
Sacred Harp musical selections included “Amazing Grace”, “And Am I Born to Die?”, “Hand in Hand with Jesus”, “There is a Land of Perfect Bliss” and “O, Sing to Me of Heaven”.

Active pallbearers were Bryan Waldon, Elder Terry Herrin, the Rev. Bryan Gill, Ronnie Hickox, Daniel Hickox and Jody Thompson.
