Tournament host Pierce County Middle School’s Lady Bears successfully defended their Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference Saturday.

The Lady Bears (10-1) knocked off Appling County Middle School 25-10, 25-13 in the semifinals. They followed with a 25-22, 25-20 victory over Ware County Middle School in the October 4 championship match for a second straight conference title.

“I am so proud of the season we have had this year” said head coach Rebecca Buchanan. “This team has grown so much and made huge developments this year and it has paid off. I have watched this young team make huge strides — with passing and hitting improvement.

“We couldn't do this without the support of our parents and our fans. Thank you to Pierce County for creating such an amazing atmosphere for these young ladies. I am so proud to be a part of the county that sets the standard.

“The back-to-back championship titles are a testament to the hard work, dedication and high standards set by the team and coaching staff.”
