PCHS volleyball falls three times

Pierce County’s Lady Bears volleyball team heads into the final week of the regular season securely inside the top 32 teams in the GHSA’s post season rankings.

The Lady Bears (16-20) are currently ranked 17th in Class AA. PCHS fell in three matches last week to higher classification teams, dropping their record to 417 against schools AAA or larger.

Pierce County traveled Tuesday, September 30 over to Brunswick to face Class 5A Glynn Academy. The Lady Bears lost 25-17, 25-13 to the Lady Red Terrors (2511).

PCHS hosted Glynn Academy and Class 6A Lowndes in the Thursday, October 2 home finale. The Lady Red Terrors completed the season sweep, winning 25-22, 25-16.

The Lady Vikings (27-11) also prevailed, winning 25-16, 25-22 and completing a season sweep of Pierce County. Lowndes won the August 28 matchup 2-0.

PCHS closed out the regular season Tuesday, October 7, traveling to Brunswick to face the Lady Pirates and Ware County.

The Region 3-AA volleyball tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 11. No site had been determined by press time.
