NAHUNTA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Brantley County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a case involving professional boundaries in employee–student communication.
According to a released by Brantley County Schools Superintendent Dr. Kim Morgan, concerns were brought to the attention of the administration concerning the matter.
“The school system immediately began an internal review, and upon evaluating the evidence, the matter was referred to law enforcement,” she said in a Board of Education press release. “At this time, the school system is cooperating fully with law enforcement and the GBI to support a thorough investigation.
“The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. I want to take a moment to reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards for all employees of Brantley County Schools.”
Dr. Morgan said Brantley Schools’ authorities are committed to upholding confidentiality as required by law, while being as transparent as possible to keep families and the community informed.
“We also want to commend our parents and students for their vigilance and remind everyone of the importance of the message: ‘If you see something, say something,’” she said. “Your awareness and willingness to speak up helps us maintain a professional and safe learning environment for all students.”
Anyone with questions is being asked to call the Brantley County Board of Education (912-462-6176) and ask to speak to a Central Office Administrator.
“Please understand that we will not be able to answer questions through social media,” said Dr. Morgan. “Thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for every child in Brantley County Schools.”
