Hendrix family sets reunion Oct. 19 

Descendants of George and Hattie Bell Hendrix will have a family reunion at 1 p.m., Sunday, October 19 at Jamestown Baptist Church, 3800 ABC Avenue.

Attendees should bring a covered side dish or dessert.

WCHS slates 9th grade parent forum 

Ware County High School will host its annual 9th Grade parent meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 7 in the Performing Arts Center.

The meeting will provide ninth grade students and their families with information about high school expectations and guidance for planning a successful high school experience. Door prizes and light refreshments will be provided.

Breast cancer focus of Oct. 2 reception 

Memorial Satilla Health celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month and survivor recognition during a reception at 6 p.m/, Thursday, October 2 in the hospital’s main lobby, 1900 Tebeau Street.

In addition to the reception and recognition program, the event will include guided tours of the hospital’s mamography suite, treatment updates from the medical team as well as refreshments and door prizes.

Thurmond holds meet-greet Oct. 18

Democrat gubernatorial candidate Michael L. Thurmond will hold a “meet ‘n’ greet’ at noon, Saturday, October 18 at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church, 710 Shirley Avenue, Douglas.

Thurmond will appear in the church’s social hall. Refreshments will be served.

Ware BOE holds meetings Oct. 6-7 

The Ware County Board of Education holds its regular monthly meetings Monday-Tuesday, October 6-7 at the board office, 1301 Bailey Street.

The work session will be October 6 and the regular business meeting the following day. Both start at 6 p.m. and are open to the public.

WPD’s Faith & Blue scheduled Oct. 11

The Waycross Police Department’s annual Faith & Blue celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 11 in Pernell Roberts Memorial Park.

WPD members invite volunteers to help pick up trash and litter around the community before finishing the day with food, fellowship and prayer.

Deal family sets 55th reunion 

The 55th annual J.C. Deal family reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at the Long Branch Community Center, 3419 Long Branch Road, Bristol, in Appling County.
