Word of Faith to honor Smithson

 Word of Faith Christian Center, 204 S. Crawford Street, holds Pastor Appreciation and a birthday celebration for Bishop Chris Smithson with special worship this week.

Programs will be Thursday-Sunday, October 2-5 at 7 p.m. the first three days and at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speakers in order of appearance are: Pastor Tommy Miller, of New Beginnings Fellowship Church, Blackshear; Pastor Marcus Nix of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Patterson; Pastor Kenneth Kirsey, Power House of Faith; and Bishop John Moss of Church of Christ Written In Heaven.

Antioch Baptist has 155th anniversary 

Historic First African Antioch Baptist Church, Inc., 615 Knight Avenue, celebrates its 155th anniversary with a special worship program at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 19.

Guest speaker is Pastor Alonzo Scott with his congregation at Big Bethel Freewill Baptist Church the special guests.

Theme of the celebration is “A Legacy of Faith and Service: Honoring Our Past and Embracing Our Future: A Church Built on the Solid Rock.”

The Rev. Raymond C. Williams, Sr. is Antioch pastor.

Greater St. Paul 121st anniversary 

Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Pittman Street, celebrates its 121st anniversary with special worship programs Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, October 7-9 and 12.

Weekday services begin at 7 p.m. with the final program at 3 p.m. The evening sessions will be presented by Shiloh Baptist, New Mt. Pleasant Baptist and St. John Baptist, respectively.

St. Peter Baptist will conduct the closing service. Greater St. Paul pastor is the Rev. Darren B. Jackson.

‘New to You Sale’ at Grace Episcopal 

Grace Episcopal Church, on the corner of Pendleton and Mary Streets, holds its fall “Fall New to You Sale” Friday-Saturday, October 3-4 in the parish hall.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., October 3 and 9 to 11:30 a.m., October 4. There will be plenty of gently used clothing, household goods, appliances, electronics, books, tools, furniture, games, and toys.

Abundant Life has special programs 

Abundant Life Christian Center, 405 Main Street in Blackshear, will hold special programs each Sunday this month at 10:30 a.m. for praise and worship and 11 a.m. for the program.

Guest speakers will be Jim and Debbie Holmes of Jesup. They will talk on the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12.

The Holmes graduated from Charis Bible College in Colorado and are ordained through Andrew Wommack Ministries.

The two started their own ministry, Palm-Cedar Ministries in 2018, and have 25 years in church planting and pastoral ministry.

Calvary Baptist schedules revival

Calvary Baptist Church, 1622 Gibbs Street, has scheduled a fall revival for Sunday-Wednesday, October 19-22.

Worship programs will be at 10:30 a.m., October 19 and 6 p.m., October 20-22. Pastor Freddie Smith is guest speaker.

90th birthday party for Smith

Family and friends of Marylou Smith will hold a floating party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday October 11 to celebrate her 90th birthday.

Activities will be held at Jacobs Plantation, 2686 Caney Ray Road, Nahunta. No gifts are necessary.

Pleasant Valley sets fall festival

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 7136 Central Avenue, will hold a fall festival from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday October 26.

There will be free hot dogs and drinks along with a variety of games. There also will be a cakewalk, bingo, dunk tank, pop a pumpkin and candy corn toss. Call (912) 2832577.

Spiritual Believers at Faith Outreach 

The Spiritual Believers featuring Antwione Peterson will be musical guests for a special program at 5 p.m., Saturday, November 1 at Faith Outreach Ministries, 200 Tebeau Street.
