LUDOWICI — Ware County’s cross-country teams competed here Thursday in the 4th annual Blue Tide Run hosted by Long County.
The Lady Gators finished seventh in the September 25 seventeam field. Savannah Arts Academy ran away with the team victory with 21 points with four runners finishing in the top five spots.
The Lady Panthers were followed by Appling County (80), St. Vincent’s Academy (86), host Long County (86), Bacon County (119), Wayne County (152) and Ware County (156).
Destiney Mendoza led the Lady Gators with an eighth-place finish in the field of 70 runners from 11 schools. Mendoza posted a time of 25:12.81 to trail the winning time of 20:54.12.
Also running for Ware County were Alaya McMillen (36th; 28:49.58), Millie Bennett (48th; 30:07.70), Faith Williams (56th; 31:46.93), Bronwyn Bennett (68th; 39:25.20) and Ah’zion Smith (69th; 40:49.63).
The Gators finished fifth with 139 points trailing winner Savannah Arts Academy’s 28 points. The Panthers placed all five qualifiers in the top eight spots.
Between Savannah Arts Academy and Ware County were Long County (72), Calvary Day (79) and First Presbyterian Christian (131). Behind the Gators were Bradwell Institute (141), Wayne County (171), Appling County (190), Liberty County (222), Jenkins-Savannah (262) and Bacon County (305).
The Gators were paced by Brayten Hood’s 15th-place showing with a time of 20:05.10 in the field of 98 contestants. The winning time was 17:43.04.
Hood was followed by Brock Payne (24th; 20:44.80), Wesley Frye (25th; 20:46.19), Silas Mixon (52nd; 22:51.79), Giovanni Solorio (54th; 23:01.21), Ashton Storant (70th; 24:06.05), Damarion Zanders (74th; 24:42.85), Seth King (78th; 25:12.90) and Jax Yarger (80th; 25:22.42).
