CANEY BAY — Brantley County Middle School students, as well as some BCHS students, gathered Wednesday morning at the school flagpole offering prayer for their country, community, and classmates while also sharing scripture and songs.
The September 24 gathering has become an annual event at BCMS joining millions of students worldwide for the annual “See You at the Pole.”
Local pastors and youth pastors also participated, leading prayers and offering encouragement.
Eighth grader Sadie Florey welcomed participants, introduced guest pastors, and shared this year’s theme, “Awe,” based on Habakkuk 3:2:
“Lord, I am filled with Awe!”
Seventh grader Josie Harris, junior Zary Harris, and sophomore Eli Thomas led the group in worship through songs, including ‘Gracefully Broken’ and ‘Evidence’.
Pastors and youth pastors in attendance included Derrell Shedd (Nahunta First Baptist), Trampus Edgy (King Memorial), Austin Lane (Mt. Calvary), Trey Keene (Whosoever) and Tom Kennedy (Riverside Baptist).
Following the group prayer, members of the BCMS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership Team divided students into small groups of 8-20 to pray for local leaders, military, first responders, schools and families.
FCA Huddle Coach Dustin Ray praised the student leaders for organizing the event.
“I’m proud of all of our FCA leaders for bringing students together for this time of prayer and worship,” he said.
This year’s 8th-grade FCA Leaders include Sadie Florey, Palmer Woods, Blane Smith, Addisyn Grafford, Briley Dyches, Hannah Kennedy, Myleigh Clark, Karslyn Lloyd and Logan Tanner.
Seventh grade FCA leaders are Elin Cecil, Garran Mc-Carty, Hauldin Lee, Camdyn Baker, Kane Barnes, Josie Harris, Maya Slover, Kacee White, Austyn Barrett, Jaelynn Cauley, Oaklee Dorsey, Erin Stalvey, Ryder Minchew, Hanner Harris and Audrey Keen The 2025 “See You at the Pole” was considered a success by organizers, drawing strong student participation and support from school staff and community leaders.
