Brantley County extended its winning streak to five games culminated by a three-game Region 1-A sweep of Worth County.
The Lady Herons (14-8 overall, 12-4 region) opened the week handing visiting Charlton County (12-10) its fourth loss in five games Monday, September 22 blanking the Indian Maidens 10-0 in five innings.
BCHS followed with a 6-0 victory Tuesday, September 23 in Game 1 of the region three-game series against visiting Worth County (9-16, 4-13). Brantley County finished the sweep knocking off the Lady Rams 141 (four innings) in the Thursday, September 25 opener and 15-1 (five innings) in the nightcap.
The Lady Herons enter the next to last week of the regular season with four games. BCHS hosted Ware County Monday, September 29. The Lady Herons traveled Tuesday, September 30 to Nashville for a region twinbill against Berrien in a makeup of the August 21 doubleheader cancelled by rain.
Brantley County is hosting Class AA third-ranked Appling County Wednesday, October 1 at 4:30 p.m. Glynn Academy visits Tuesday, October 7 in the regular season finale.

CANEY BAY — Edie Lowther and Mary Hall combined on a three-hit shutout pitching the Lady Herons past Charlton County.
Lowther worked four innings of three-hit ball striking out seven and walking one. Hall fanned one retiring the Indian Maidens in order in the fifth.
Brantley County scored the only runs it would need during a two-run first inning. Rilee Story (3-for-4) lined a one-out single, stole second and scored when Sydnee Davis (2-for-2) followed one pitch later with a run-scoring double. Davis scored on a Jayden Lewis (2-for-2) two-out single.
BCHS stretched the lead to 60 with a four-run second inning. Chloe Johns (2-for-3) opened the frame with a base hit. She moved around to third on a passed ball and scored on the second passed ball of the inning for a 3-0 advantage.
Lydia Anderson (2-for-4) followed the first out with a base hit, stole second and moved over to third on a passed ball. She scored on an error on a ball hit by Story. Davis deposited the ensuing pitch over the fence in left-center for a two-run homer and a six-run lead.
The Lady Herons plated three runs in the third inning doing all the damage after two outs and nobody on base to open up a 90 advantage.
Anderson singled to keep the inning alive, stole second and advanced to third on the throwing error. A single by story scored Anderson with the first run.
After Davis was walked intentionally, both Story and Davis executed a double steal. Caiden Jones (1-for-4) delivered a tworun single for the nine-run advantage.
BCHS finished off the scoring with a run in the fourth. Johns reached on a one-out single, stole second and raced home when Kynslea Garrison’s grounder was booted for a twobase error.

CANEY BAY — The Lady Herons scored six unearned runs to back the three-hit shutout of Reagan Mclain in the series opening win against Worth County.
Mclain fanned 13 Lady Rams and walked one needing just 86 pitches.
Brantley County plated the only run Mclain would need in the first inning. The Lady Herons, who recorded just four hits, put the game away with a five-run fifth.
Anderson’s (2-for-4) leadoff bunt was misplayed. She stole second and third, two of her four thefts in the game, and scored on Davis’s nine-pitch at bat ending with a groundout.
BCHS sent 10 batters to the plate in the fifth inning scoring five times in building a 6-0 advantage.
Garrison (1-for-3) got the inning started with a double. She raced around the bases to score when Anderson’s sacrifice bunt turned into a three-base error.
After a four-pitch walk to Story put runners on the corners, a Davis infield pop was misplayed into a twobase error allowing Anderson to score for a 3-0 lead.
Story scored on a passed ball and Davis followed on Chelsea Turner’s groundout pushing the margin to 5-0. Lewis (1-for-3) followed with a single.
Consecutive walks to Madison Walker and Mclain loaded the bases. Johns lifted a sacrifice fly to right scoring Lewis with the final run of the inning.

SYLVESTER — Brantley County needed just four innings to knock off the Lady Rams with a pair of four-run innings and a pair of three-run innings.
The Lady Herons banged out 17 hits including six extra base hits to back the two-hitter of Turner (4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 9 K, 1 BB, 1 HBP).
Story (double, two RBI), Turner (RBI), Johns (double, two RBI, stolen base) and Mclain (two doubles, RBI) led the hit parade with each going 3-for-3. Anderson (double, RBI, two stolen bases) also recorded a multi-hit going 2-for-3.
Davis (1-for-2) blasted a three-run homer. Walker (1for-2; RBI) and Flowers (1-for-1, RBI) joined in the hitting barrage.
BCHS scored four runs in the first on Story’s sacrifice fly, Johns RBI single, a bases loaded walk to Walker and Mclain’s run-scoring bloop single.
Davis hit her three-run homer in the second upping the lead to 7-0. Brantley County plated three two-out runs in the third scoring on consecutive singles by Story and Turner, and a double by Johns for a 10-0 advantage.
After Worth County scored a run in the bottom of the third on a two-out, run-scoring single to close the deficit to 10-1, BCHS chased home four runs in the fourth for the final margin.
Flowers lined a two-run single, Anderson followed with a run-scoring double and scored the final run on a passed ball.

SYLVESTER — The Lady Herons scored at least one run in each of the five innings to complete the sweep of the twinbill.
Davis slugged a pair of homers and drove in seven runs finishing the game 4-for-4 to lead a 16-hit attack. Anderson (triple) and Story (double, two stolen bases, three runs batted in) collected three hits apiece.
Turner (double, RBI) and Walker (two RBI) added two hits apiece. Johns (double) and Mclain finished with a hit each.
Turner tossed a second two-hitter (5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 6 K, 2 BB) for th day.
BCHS grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first on a Story RBI single, a passed ball and an error. The Lady Rams scored their lone run in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly.
Brantley County followed with a three-run second for a 6-1 advantage. Story, Davis and Turner had the runscoring hits.
A Davis grandslam homer provided the damage in the third swelling the lead to 10-1. Walker’s run-scoring single drove home the only run in the fourth for an 11-1 advantage.
Davis followed Story’s run-scoring single with a tworun homer, her third of the day, for a 14-1 lead. Mclain drove home the final run on a two-out base hit.
