Pierce County stretched its winning streak to a season-high tying five games with a pair of wins.
The Lady Bears (15-7 overall, 4-2 region) won for the seventh time in 10 games knocking off Class 5A Brunswick 9-1 on the road Tuesday, September 23. The victory gave PCHS a sweep of the Lady Pirates after opening the season with a 109 home win.
Pierce County ended the twogame slate with a 5-2 victory Thursday, September 25 over visiting region foe Crisp County. The win gave PCHS a sweep of the season series after rolling 11-0 September 9 in Cordele.
The Lady Bears traveled Tuesday, September 30 to Adel to face topranked Cook High to start the next to last week of the regular season.
Class A DI eighth-ranked Metter visits today (Wednesday), October 1 at 6 p.m.
PCHS travels to Baxley Thursday, October 2 to make up the September 18 rainout with third-ranked Appling County.
The Lady Bears will play three games in the last week of the season. They host Class A DI third-ranked Bacon County Monday, October 6, travel Tuesday, October 7 to Class A DII top-ranked ECI and finish at home October 9 with Wilcox County visiting.

BRUNSWICK — PCHS scored eight runs over the final two innings to pull away from a 1-all tie in beating the Lady Pirates.
Kaylee Figueroa (1-for-3) and Taylor Tomlinson (2-for-5) each homered during a six-run seventh helping the Lady Bears break the game open.
Pierce County left a runner on base in two of the first three innings before breaking a scoreless tie in the fourth. Olivia Bennett (3-for-5) legged out an infield hit to start the game and stole second (one of three thefts for Bennett) before the inning ended.
Maelee Childers (2-for-4) would reach on a one-out, infield hit in the third inning.
The Lady Bears grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Tomlinson led off with a base hit and moved to third on Carley Sloan’s (1-for-2) two-out double. A 2-0 passed ball plated Tomlinson.
Brunswick pulled even at 1-apiece in the bottom of the fifth on a twoout, run-scoring double against Sloan (7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 K, 0 BB).
PCHS scored twice in the sixth without the benefit of a base hit to grab a 3-1 lead.
Parker Sinclair (1-for-3) and Figueroa opened the inning with consecutive walks. A one-out walk to Lanie Mai loaded the bases.
Sinclair’s courtesy runner, Sophia White, scored on a passed ball for the go-ahead run. An error allowed Figueroa to race home for a two-run advantage.
The Lady Bears sent 11 batters to the plate in the seventh inning with six scoring. Tomlinson blasted a oneout, solo homer off an 0-1 pitch to kick start the scoring.
A single by Sinclair was followed by Figueroa’s two-run homer to left off a 2-2 offering, upping the margin to 6-1.
After the roundtripper, Sloan walked and Mai reached on an error. A fielder’s choice grounder for the second out was followed by a tworun throwing error on a double steal for an 8-1 lead.
Childers grounded a single and scored one pitch later on Bennett’s double for the final margin.

BEARVILLE — The Lady Bears rode the combined two-hitter of Tomlinson and Sloan to rally past Crisp County.
Tomlinson surrendered the hits during her 6.1 innings of work. She fanned seven, walked seven, hit three batters and was charged with an earned run. Sloan retired the two batters she faced, one via strikeout.
The Lady Cougars struck with a run in the first. Tomlinson hit the first batter, who came around to score on a throwing error off a sacrifice bunt.
PCHS pulled even at 1-apiece in the bottom of the second. Figueroa drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored Sloan’s (2-for-3) single to left.
The Lady Bears took the lead for good in the fourth plating three runs. Sloan got the rally started with a oneout double and was removed for pinch-runner Kinsey Reddick. Mai (2-for-2) followed reaching on a sacrifice bunt.
Eva Horne’s (1-for-2) ensuing first-pitch double drove in both runners for a 3-1 lead. After an infield hit by Childers two pitches later, Harper Larson (2-for-2) delivered a two-out base hit, scoring Horne for a three-run advantage.
PCHS added an insurance run in the sixth. Mai led off with a bunt single and advanced around to third on Horne’s sacrifice bunt. Mai scored on Childers’ sacrifice bunt.
Crisp County scored on a one-out bases loaded walk finishing Tomlinson’s afternoon. Sloan coaxed an infield pop and finished the game with a strikeout.
