Ware County suffered a pair of eight-run setbacks extending the Lady Gators current losing streak to five games.
The Lady Gators (4-15 overall, 0-2 Region 1AAAA lost for the 10th time in 11 games falling 91 Tuesday, September 16 at region leader Wayne County (15-5, 4-0).
Class AA top-ranked Cook (17-1) blanked Ware County 8-0 Thursday, September 18 in five innings stretching its winning streak to nine games. The Lady Hornets have surrendered 11 runs during the streak.
The Lady Gators will play seven of the final nine regular season games on the road over the next three weeks. Ware County traveled to Brunswick Monday, September 22 to face the Lady Pirates.
Ware County heads to Warner Robins Thursday, September 25 for a region doubleheader with the Lady Demons.
The next to last week of the regular season has the Lady Gators playing Monday, September 29 at Brantley County in the first of three games. Wayne County visits in the home finale Tuesday, September 30. Ware County visits Folkston Thursday, October 2 for a doubleheader with Charlton County.

JESUP — The Lady Yellow Jackets scored at least one run in each of their six at bats in turning back Ware County.
Wayne County scored an unearned run in the first against Kayleigh LeMay (5.1 IP, 13 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 WP) on a one-out single that followed an error and stolen base.
The Lady Yellow Jackets scored twice in the second to open up a 3-0 lead on a leadoff hit and three-base throwing error and a second error following a two-out double.
They added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth doubling the margin to 6-0. A leadoff double was followed two pitches later by a run-scoring single in the third.
Wayne County had a two-out, RBI double in the fourth. A run-scoring ground followed consecutive singles and a wild pitch to start the fifth.
The Lady Gators chased home their lone run in the top of the sixth cutting the margin to 6-1. Ashyln Jacobs drew a four-pitch walk to start the inning. After moving into scoring position on a wild pitch, Jacobs advanced to third on Amberley Padget’s groundout.
Jacobs scored on Mattie Forysth’s (1-for-2) two-out single up the middle off an 0-2 offering. Kara Coleman (1-for-2) followed with a double ahead of the final out.
The Lady Yellow Jackets ended the game in the bottom of the inning plating three runs for the “mercy rule” to be inacted. They got a one-out, run-scoring single, a run-scoring triple on the ensuing pitch and a game-ending RBI single two batters later.

Visiting Cook used a six-run third inning to take command in beating the Lady Gators with a one-hit shutout.
The Lady Hornets scored single runs in the first two innings against LeMay (2.2 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 BB). The first inning run came courtesy of a leadoff walk, stolen base, sacrifice fly and a run-scoring groundout.
Cook took a 2-0 lead in the second scoring on a twoout double.
Consecutive singles to start the third set up the sixrun inning. Consecutive one-out errors plated the first two runs doubling the Lady Hornets’ margin to 4-0.
Back-to-back run-scoring singles followed extending the lead to 6-0. A two-out, two-run double finished off the scoring.
Ella Musgrove (1-for-2) recorded Ware County’s lone hit reaching on a two-out, infield hit in the fourth. Kallie Lairsey was the only other Lady Gator to reach drawing a leadoff walk in the second inning.
