Waynesville VFD to begin hosting Turkey Shoots each weekend WAYNESVILLE — The Waynesville Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a Turkey Shoot every Friday and Saturday night at Waynesville State 3 beginning Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4.
The cost is $3 per shot and concessions are available. Shot guns available are 12 gauge, 16 gauge, 20 gauge and 410.

Fall Fun Day for Special Needs Children set for Monday, Sept. 29 BLACKSHEAR — A Fall Fund Day for Special Needs families and friends will be held Monday, September 29 at the Blackshear City Park located at 318 Taylor Street.
The event begins at 5 p.m. and runs through 6:30 p.m. There will be fire trucks, police cars, games and more for a fun afternoon designed for Special Needs children.
BCMS basketball tryouts to be held October 8 thru October 10 CANEY BAY — Brantley County Middle School will be holding three-day basketball tryouts for the 6th-7th grade teams and the 8th-grade teams beginning Wednesday, October 8.
The girls’ tryouts are scheduled for 3;30 p.m.-4:45 p.m., October 8, and 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10.
The boys’ tryouts are scheduled for 4:45 p.m.-6 p.m., October 8, and 5 p.m.6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10.
Students must have a completed physical on file with the BCMS front office to attend tryouts. The gym will be closed to spectators for tryouts and practices.
