BCHS volleyball in throes of eight-match skid as season nears end

Brantley County’s volleyball Lady Herons have dropped eight straight matches over the past two weeks following a season- best six-match winning streak.

The Lady Herons (11-21 overall, 5-4 Area 3-A) had their sixmatch winning streak come to a halt falling 25-22, 25-15 Tuesday, September 9 to Class AA Cook in Adel. Class A DII Brooks County followed with a 25-14, 25-19 victory in the finale.

The Lady Hornets’ win was their second of the season over Brantley County. They captured a 2-1 victory in the August 24 matchup at BCHS.

Brantley County fell twice in Area 3 action Thursday, September 11 in Savannah. Class A3A Private sixth-ranked Savannah Christian handed the Lady Herons a 25-4, 25-10 setback in the opener. Savannah Country Day copped the finale with a two-match sweep.

Both Cook and Faith Baptist Christian Academy handed BCHS 2-1 setbacks in a home match Tuesday, September 16.

The Lady Hornets posted a 25-15, 21-25, 17-15 victory in the opener. The Lady Crusaders followed with 25-6, 13-25, 15-6 decision in the second game.

The Lady Herons forfeited Area 3 matchups scheduled for Savannah to both St. Vincent’s Academy and Woodville-Tompkins Thursday, September 18.

Brantley County wraps up its regular season on the road. The Lady Herons traveled Tuesday, August 23 to Toombs County and finish Monday, August 29 at Liberty County.
