Pierce County notched a pair of “mercy rule” victories and had a third game called in the third inning due to rain.
The seventh-ranked Lady Bears (13-7 overall, 3-2 region) opened what was scheduled as a three-game slate Monday, September 15 beating visiting Toombs County 10-2 in five innings.
PCHS completed the season sweep of region foe Tattnall County, beating the Lady Warriors 12-0 at home Tuesday, September 16 in four innings on Senior Night. Recognized were Olivia Bennett, Carley Sloan and Taylor Tomlinson.
Pierce County notched a 5-2 victory August 26 outside Reidsville.
The Lady Bears’ matchup Thursday September 18 in Baxley with thirdranked regionmate Appling County was called in the third inning because of rain. No makeup date has been announced.
Pierce County traveled Tuesday, September 23 to Brunswick to face the Class 6A Lady Pirates. Crisp County visits Thursday, September 25 for a 5 p.m. first pitch.
The Lady Bears close out its region schedule Tuesday, September 30 traveling to Adel to face top-ranked Cook High.

BEARVILLE — Deuces were wild for both teams with PCHS having five two-run innings and the Lady Bulldogs one in the non-region matchup.
The Lady Bears collected nine hits with Harper Larson (double, RBI) and Tomlinson (two doubles, three ribbies) each going 2-for-3.
Bennett (RBI), three stolen bases), Parker Sinclair, Sloan (two RBI), Caren Drew (two runs batted in) and Lanie Mai contribitued a hit apiece.
Sloan twirled all five innings, fanning four with no walks. She allowed three hits with one of the runs earned.
PCHS scored its two runs in the first without the benefit of a hit with three walks and two hit batters. Bennett (1-for-2) and Tomlinson sandwiched walks around the first out.
Sinclair (1-for-2) and Kaylee Figueroa were hit by a pitch, forcing home the first run. Drew (1-for-2) drew a two-out, four-pitch walk, forcing home the second run for a 20 lead.
Toombs County evened the score in the top of the second with a pair of runs. A one-out, run-scoring single was followed by a suicide squeeze, knotting the score at 2apiece.
The Lady Bears took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. Bennett walked on four pitches, and stole second and third ahead of a walk to Larson. Tomlinson followed two pitches later with a two-run double.
Bennett and Larson stroked consecutive run-scoring singles in the third inning extending the lead to 62. Mai (1-for-3) legged out a leadoff bunt and moved to second on a passed. Bennett laced a 1-0 pitch to score Mai, stole second and scored on Larson’s base hit.
PCHS followed with a two-run fourth scoring on consecutive oneout singles by Sloan (1-for-2) and Drew for an 8-2 advantage. Sinclair opened the inning with a hit and was removed for courtesy runner Sophia White.
White advanced to second on a ground out, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on Sloan’s hit. Kinsey Reddick, courtesy running for Sloan, advanced to second on a passed ball and raced home on Drew’s infield hit.
After escaping a bases loaded situation in the top of the fifth unharmed, Pierce County ended the game in the home half of the inning.
Larson and Tomlinson ripped back-to-back, one-out doubles upping the lead to 9-2. Consecutive walks to Sinclair and Figueroa loaded the bases ahead of Sloan’s game-ending sacrifice fly to left.

BEARVILLE — Tomlinson tossed a one-hit shutout, backing her outing with a three-run-homer and RBI double against Tattnall County.
PCHS blasted five extra base hits with Eva Horne (1-for-1), Larson (1for-2) and Tomlinson (2-for-3) recording doubles, Bennett (2-for-2) lining a triple and Tomlinson’s homer.
The Lady Bears grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning with Bennett’s leadoff triple followed by runscoring doubles from Larson and Tomlinson scoring two quick runs. Sloan’s (1-for-2) two-out single to left drove home the final run.
PCHS broke the game open in the second inning, plating eight runs to open up an 11-0 lead.
Bennett drew a one-out walk with Larson hit on the ensuing pitch. Tomlinson, after fouling off two pitches, lined a low 2-2 pitch over the fence in left-center for a 6-0 lead.
Sinclair (1-for-3) followed with a base hit with Figueroa and Sloan being issued walks, loading the bases. Reddick, courtesy running for Sinclair, scored on a passed ball with Figueroa racing home on Drew’s groundout for an 8-0 advantage.
A single by Mai (2-for-3) scored Sloan. After Childress’ (1-for-2) bunt single, Bennett drove both runners home with a base hit to right capping the uprising.
PCHS ended the game two batters into the fourth. Horne lined a firstpitch double and scored on Mai’s RBI single two pitches later.
