
William Clyde “Bill” Lewis, Sr., 87, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Waycross August 24, 1938, he had lived in Pierce County prior to moving to the Jacksonville/Middleburg area, before finally settling in Orange Park. A graduate of Patterson High School, he went on to obtain a degree from the University of Florida School of Forestry. He was a heavy equipment salesman for Moody Truck Center in Jacksonville, from which he would retire after many years of service.
He loved to hunt and fish, and was an expert skeet shooter, for which he won many awards. He enjoyed laughing and telling jokes with friends and family. His favorite place to travel was to his family homestead in the North Carolina mountains. He enjoyed history and genealogy and loved to share his knowledge with others. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Clyde Lewis and Mary Bernhardt Lewis Howard. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen T. Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ginger Parks Lewis, Orange Park; a son, William “Bill” (Cathy) Lewis Jr., Lake City, FL; four step-daughters, Terri (Chuck) Dorsey, Watkinsville, Tanya Conrad and Rita (David) McDaniel, all of Jacksonville, FL and Andrea (Josh) Harris, Jesup; a brother, Jessie (Margaret) Lewis, Patterson; seven step-grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) McHugh, Adam Dorsey, Jonathan (Cindy) Courson, Nathan (Caroline) McDaniel, Avery (Baylee) McDaniel, Sam Simmons and Ben Simmons; seven step-great grandchildren; one step-great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the Patterson Cemetery.
