WAYCROSS — Leland George Cox, 90, of Waycross died Sunday morning, September 14, 2025 at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.
Cox was born in Manor to the late Rufus Henry Cox and Gussie Fitchett Cox and made Waycross his home for most of his life. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and retired from Manor Timber Company. He was a man who enjoyed being outside — he could be found camping, gardening or fishing most any time. Cox loved old westerns and was a member of Kettle Creek Congregational Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Cox was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Denise Erickson; a son, Stevie Rufus Cox; five siblings, Robert Cox, Lewis Cox, Patsy Murray, Clarine Warren, and David Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Pansy Cox of Waycross; two children, Bonnie Sue Cartwright of Waresboro, and Raymond see OBITS, Page 4A
