Ben Mitchell, Emergency Room Registered Nurse at Memorial Satilla Health, was recently honored with the DAISY Award ® for Extraordinary Nurses. “Ben was top notch. He was everything you hope and wish for in a nurse with our given circumstances,” wrote the caregiver who nominated Mitchell. “He treated my husband with respect and dignity in his most vulnerable state. In the most stressful and heartbreaking situation, he built a personal connection with us. He provided support, offered comfort, listened to our concerns, fears, and anxieties. His calm, friendly, down-to-earth demeanor brought soothing in such a terrifying time. He showed true concern and understanding.” Mitchell has been a member of the ER team for seven years. He lives in Waycross. The DAISY Award is presented quarterly. Anyone can nominate one of Memorial Satilla’s nurses for The DAISY Award.
