CASA has resource fair on October 14 Southeast Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates holds a community connect resource fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14 at C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

The free event will offer family resources and support, volunteer opportunities, community partnerships and door prizes for participants.

WPD’s Faith & Blue scheduled Oct. 11

The Waycross Police Department’s annual Faith & Blue celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 11 in Pernell Roberts Memorial Park.

WPD members invite volunteers to help pick up trash and litter around the community before finishing the day with food, fellowship and prayer.

American Legion meeting tonight American Legion John S. Sutton Post 517, will hold a meeting for all Post 517 officers and members at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Post 517 Ballroom.

Unison directors to meet Sept. 25 The Unison Behavioral Health Board of Directors holds a meeting at noon Thursday, September 25 in the Board Room, 1007 Mary Street.

PSC candidate has meet-greet Sept. 26 Public Service Commission candidate Tim Echols, will be in Waycross for a meet ‘n’ greet at 11:30 a.m. at Jerry J’s, 1406 Plant Avenue.

A Dutch treat lunch will open the forum. Echols currently serves as a member of the commission.

Heartburn forum slated Sept. 19 Memorial Satilla Health will host a Heartburn to Health seminar at noon, Friday, September 19 at the Hospital Annex, 1800 Alice Street.

General surgeons Dr. David Wykstra and Dr. Sigismund Lee with Memorial Satilla Specialists — Advanced Surgery, discuss surgery preparation and what to expect during recovery for treatment of the condition.

Recovery month forum set Sept. 25

September is National Recovery Month and a local observance is planned from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 25 at C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

Among the local groups staging the event are The Hub, Okefenokee Alliance for the Homeless, Unison Behavioral Health, Georgia Council for Recovery, and The Trust. Organizations involved in abuse and recovery will be on hand with information.

Lee reunion held Sunday, Oct. 5 The descendants of James F. and Nancy Griffin Lee will hold their annual family reunion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, October 5, at the Hoboken Community Center, 294 Chicago Avenue.

A business meeting will be held at 12:15 p.m., followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a covered dish and beverage.

Deal family sets 55th reunion The 55th annual J.C. Deal family reunion will be held Saturday, October 11, at the Long Branch Community Center, 3419 Long Branch Road, Bristol, in Appling County.

The center will open at 11 a.m. A short business meeting will convene at noon with lunch to follow.

Attendees should bring a covered dish and beverage of choise. Other items will be provided.

PCHS Class of 2000 sets 25th reunion The Pierce County High School Class of 2000 will hold its 25th reunion at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, at the Okefenokee Country Club.

Price is $50 per person due by September 18 with payment by Venmo @PCHS-2000 (#6018 / include maiden name).

Attire is evening cocktail with former faculty also welcome.

Friends of Laura Walker are having their biggest Food Truck and Vendors Bazaar Saturday, Septemer 20 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

There will be more than 40 vendors.
