Three Waycross residents have been arrested in connection to reports of thefts from motor vehicles late last week, the Waycross Police Department reported.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, September 11, WPD officers began receiving reports of thefts from vehicles in an east side neighborhood. In some cases, firearms were stolen, authorities said.
A patrol officer later conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle, which led to the recovery of one of the firearms reported stolen.
Arrested were Sampson Lee Smith, 48, of the 1200 block of Marion Street, Christina Smith, 44, of the 2800 block of Albany Avenue and Katherine Arlena Goodseal, 44, of the 1400 block of Moody Street. All were booked into the Ware County Jail, later September 11.
Sampson Smith, who faces multiple charges and Christina Smith, who was arrested on three charges, remain in the jail after having bond denied by a magistrate, Ware County Sheriff’s Office Major Neil Skerratt said Monday, September 15. Goodseal, who was arrested on two charges, has been released after a magistrate approved bond. A juvenile also was arrested in connection to the thefts, WPD said. He is being held at a local regional youth detention center. Sampson Smith was charged with a Probation Violation, felony Receiving Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon or First Offender or Probationer, Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, felony Possession of a Firearm or Knife during Commission or Attempting to Commit Certain Crimes, Possession and Use of Drug-related Objects, Manufacturing, Distributing, Dispensing or Possession of a Controlled Substance or Marijuana Near a Park or Housing Project, felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, felony Possession of Schedule I or II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, misdemeanor Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

Christina Smith was charged with three counts of felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. Goodseal faces two counts of felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
After the traffic stop, WPD Special Operations Investigators arrived at the scene, and after a brief investigation, obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 1400 block of Moody Street.
Members of Special Operations and Uniform Patrol executed the search warrant, resulting in the recovery of several stolen firearms and a large quantity of drugs resulting in the arrests.
